Spectators

We’re back, Voyageurs 2.0

New date – May 10, 2025.

Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson said that spectating rally is a sport for the terminally gormless. You can read his complete dissertation here. We don’t agree with the sentiment but he did have a way with words.

Spectating Voyageurs has good points; you see the cars eight times over the course of six hours which is hard to do with a rally that uses more than one road like ours does. However, given our tight schedule on the turnarounds there is no opportunity to move between stages and there are only two places to spectate that has enough room for more than a couple of cars.

If you plan to attend you need to be in the spectator location in the stage by 11AM and you probably can’t get back out until about 5:30PM. The only way in and out is using the stage road; there are no other roads leading into the stage. Bring along drinks & snacks, warm, waterproof clothing and footwear. Pay attention to the marshalls who are their for your safety; they are not the fun police but volunteers who come along to make a safe rally for everybody.

DRONES
Our liability insurance policy does not include coverage for the use of drones. Use of such devices and all other unmanned aircraft of any kind is strictly prohibited along any of the routes or any of the facilities used by the rally unless previously authorized in writing by the organizers of the rally.

Safety Tips

  • Do not camp or start a fire at any of the spectator areas.
  • Spectator areas may be monitored by the OPP.
  • Do not stand too close to any of the roads.
  • Do not block escape routes. Rally cars may need the runoff room and emergency vehicles need to have fast access to the road in case of an emergency.
  • Never stand on the outside of comers.
  • Never stand in areas marked with red prohibited area tape.
  • Stay behind all yellow caution tape and safety fences. They’re there for a reason.
  • Never cross the stage road.
  • Try to keep behind something solid, such as a large tree and leave room to move quickly.
  • Keep children under close supervision and dogs on a leash.
  • Please listen to the marshals’ instructions.
  • April weather can change very quickly. Be prepared for sun, rain, snow and cold.

Schedule:
This is our working schedule. As we mentioned you must be in your position in the stage by 11AM so we can secure the road. If you are late you won’t be able to enter the stage. Be aware that we may run later than the schedule depending on how fast we can turn a stage around.

Spectator Areas
There are two spectator areas; one at 1.0 km into the stage and one at 6.38km. The area at 1.0km has a good variety of views and is close to the Highway for a fast exit after the rally.
The area at 6.38km is the intersection of the quarry road and Loom Lake road. Loom Lake / Crystal Lake road is not open at this time of year.
